Initially, our aim was to ensure Slidesome was user-friendly while accommodating a wide range of feeds and features. However, as time has passed, maintaining this breadth of functionality has proven increasingly complex. Each feed, such as Google Drive, requires API integration, demanding ongoing efforts to address issues like breaking API changes, security assessments, and more.

Moreover, we've observed that during events, individuals may have reservations about sharing posts on social media platforms due to privacy concerns and other factors. In response, we introduced direct upload functionality within Slidesome, which has emerged as the preferred method for many users to share content during events.

Moving forward, our primary focus will be on enhancing the direct upload feature. Here's what we have in mind:

1. Enabling guests to view and download uploaded posts.
2. Offering customization options for the direct upload website.
3. Facilitating bulk photo uploads.
4. Allowing guests to remove inadvertently added posts.

We're committed to streamlining the process of uploading content directly to a slideshow. Consequently, we've made the decision to discontinue the Slidesome mobile app and concentrate on optimizing the direct upload website. This web-based approach is mobile-friendly and eliminates the need for users to download an app for a single event, ultimately simplifying the experience for all parties involved. We anticipate that this shift will expedite development and enable us to introduce even more exciting features in the future.

Regarding Google Drive integration, we have encountered several limitations that have prompted us to discontinue this feature. Issues such as bandwidth restrictions and access limitations on file listings within folders have rendered the integration incompatible with Slidesome. We recommend exploring alternative feeds such as Google Photos, Dropbox, Direct upload with Slidesome or considering custom posts if your content primarily consists of static media.
